Oprah Donates 365,000 big ones to Atlanta school

Oprah never ceases to amaze me. first with her show, which i use to watch religiously at 4pm until life got to hectic and then to the magazine and network. it doesn't surprise me that Oprah has made headlines again this time with her large donation (365,000 dollars to be exact) to an inner-city Atlanta school. the school was opened in 2007 and is located in one of the poorest neighborhoods in ATL. according to an article on datzhott.com via Global Grind, it costs 14,000 a year for a student to attend to the private school. not to mention that that school gets most of their funding from private donors. the money donated by Winfrey will go towards scholarships and pay for 26 students to attend the school for a year.

now tell me now that Oprah isn't amazing! this makes me want to sing that Tina Turner song that goes, "ever in your wildest dreams..."

New Music from Prince for the New Year

i didn't become a big fan of Prince until i heard Ginuwine's cover of "When Doves Cry," off of his The Bachelor CD. it was then that i had to go hear the original version. My cousin was a very big Prince fan and had almost every single Prince record possible and believe me, there are a ton of them!

well, word on Yahoo! News this morning that was Prince is planning on releasing three albums in 2009. Two of those records will be titled MPLSound and Lotus Flowers, which according to the article is an "electro-pop effort."

well, i'm really excited. the last Prince CD i bought was Musicology and i'll be honest and say that i didn't listen to all of it, but what i did hear, i did like. especially his single, Call My Name.

i honestly believe that Keyshia Cole's sister Neffe and Frankie should have their own show. I'm going to be honest and say that i don't even watch The Way It Is to see Keyshia anymore. i watch it to catch up on what is going on with Neffe and Frankie. so with that being said, Neffe is celeb of the day!

William Balfour indicted on charges

TMZ reports that 45 year-old retired NBA player Charles Barkley has been arrested and released on suspicion of DUI. The sports commentator was stopped at a mobile DUI checkpoint in Arizona this morning and was seen getting blood drawn. He was then released and took a taxi home. There are pictures on TMZ but not much more information about it. While Barkley looks sober enough you can’t really tell from photos. He’s probably awaiting the results of the bloodwork that will determine whether he will be officially charged.The guy is 6′6″ tall and he’s gained some weight since his professional career ended in 2000. It must take a lot to get him drunk and maybe he had some drinks that led police to suspect he was intoxicated but it’s possible he wasn’t over the legal limit of .08 in Arizona. Barkley played professional basketball for 16 years, from 1984 to 2000. He was known for his skill and domineering personality on the court and his fights with other players. In 1993, Barkley famously said that sports stars shouldn’t be role models. He claimed that it wasn’t realistic for children to aspire to become high paid professional players and that “A million guys can dunk a basketball in jail; should they be role models?” Since retiring, Barkley has admitted to gambling away millions of his earnings. He claims it’s not a problem for him as he has the money to waste. Barkley has announced that he intends to run as an Independent for governor of his home state of Alabama in 2014 after he completes the seven year residency requirements for a run. If he ends up having a DUI on his record it’s not going to bode well for his campaign no matter how well known he is.

Neffe is not the first person to have children by two different men. we can sit here all day and name celebrities and non-celebrities who have done the same thing. shoot, you never know, i might do the same thing if i get married, divorced, and then remarried, lol. then again, if this blogger really watched the show then they would know that Keyshia named Jaylyn, which Neffe said when Jaylyn appeared on the show with his father. i will say this though, i did raise an eyebrow that Neffe's son last name was Cole when i was somewhat certain that it wasn't her last name. however, she can name her child what she wants. shoot, I'm worn out from talking about the comments regarding Neffe that i don't even want to start on what they said about Elite.

DMX pleads guilty to charges

DMX has reached a plea deal on multiple drug possession, theft and animal cruelty charges.The rapper (real name: Earl Simmons) pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty, one felony count of theft, and one count each of felony possession of marijuana and a narcotic drug.DMX, who appeared in handcuffs and wearing a black-and-white striped prison uniform, is expected to receive a minimum 90-day jail sentence as well as probation under terms of a plea agreement, according to the Maricopa County attorney's office. He will remain in the county jail until his sentencing and won't be given credit for time served.A Maricopa County Superior Court commissioner has set a sentencing hearing for Jan. 30.Additional charges will be dismissed then.As part of the plea agreement, DMX cannot own any animals, possess firearms and must attend an animal offender treatment program. Happy New Year!!!!

first off, i want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! i know a lot of ppl are starting to work on those New Year's resolutions, but let's all try and stick to them this year. i know i was terrible last year with mine! i was WAY BAD!!!! in other news, i had planned on posting yesterday and if you want me to be honest, the paragraph above was written yesterday but i didn't finish the rest of the blog. i had a lot on my plate so i never got around to finishing it. i had so much on my plate that i got agitated to the point where i ignored EVERYTHING! phone calls, text messages, and e-mails. there was too much to do that i just said to myself, dang it, i ain't doing nothing, I'm going to BED!!!! that's what i did and then after work this morning, i got back on the ball and completed my tasks. i feel a whole lot better, too! not to mention, i just watched the most FAB movie this morning, In Her Shoes, which stars Toni Collette, Shirley MacLaine and Cameron Diaz. okay world, here we go...

The Morning Talk is official!

Greetings! For the longest, I have been hearing that I need to make my blog more official. Maybe not those exact words, but I have been hearing that I need to get paid to do this blog. Well, I'll be honest when I say that I didn't get into blogging for the money, but just to have an outlet to display my thoughts on one topic that I love: entertainment! Now that the blog is more official, I hope that the number of readers go up as well as the number of comments that are posted! Oh well, this marks history!
